Big Changes!

I’ve been hinting towards big changes the last few weeks. When I say things have been crazy, it really has been.

We are moving!!!

Where do you ask? Well, we are moving to a big city…

Ork Posters!

Yes, we are going to be moving to San Francisco! In a month! Yikes! Mark has accepted a job in San Francisco. It’s an amazing opportunity and we are really excited. However, we are nervous and it’s a little scary. We both grew up in Southern California (SD and OC) and all of our family and most of our friends are down here. We put a lot of thought into the decision and ultimately decided that moving was the best thing and a new adventure. Since we don’t have kids, don’t own a house or anything like that, there really isn’t anything tying us down. It’s hard to leave family, but it’s an hour flight away and a doable drive for a road trip. We already have people planning trips. I guess that is the awesome thing about going somewhere that people like to visit!

I can’t believe we have a month to get everything done! The next few weeks are going to be a little crazy. We’ll be going up to SF soon to find somewhere to live (yes still don’t know where we are going to live). I’m sure I’ll be turning to you all for advice and support. Anyways, wanted to share the big news with you all!

I also think I need that Ork Poster now…

Have you ever been to San Francisco/Bay Area? What were your favorite things you did there?

Any moving tips?

  1. That is wonderful news! My husband and I will be moving to San Francisco in October. We should meet up at some point and share blog/design tips. We love the Pacific Heights, Marina, and Russian Hill neighborhoods. But all of SF is wonderful. I’m sure you’ll love it.

  2. Yay! So excited for you. The bay area is truly amazing. My oldest friend moved there for college & I visit her every chance I get. A couple of things to consider…

How will you manage your autos? A lot of places don’t have parking or they charge you upwards of $200 a month to have a space. And like any big city, there’s lots of traffic. Consider public transit, it’s better than it is in so cal. Also keep this in mind when searching for a place. If you opt for no car, choose a place to live that isn’t too far from your workplaces.

Your wardrobe: closet space is hard to come by. Have a massive clean out before you move. Also consider the weather. It’s considerably cooler there. The summers are more in the Sept / Oct months. Layering is absolutely key! The weather changes hourly, and if you’re on foot you want to avoid trucking back to your place.

You have to try Golden Boy Pizza. I recommend plain cheese pizza. It is the best! Also, Cha Cha Chas near Haight-Ashbury has the best Sangria & fried potatoes.

  3. I’m moving to SF in six weeks! Such a small world. I lived there from 2006 – 2008, it’s such a beautiful city, you really can’t go wrong. Because I’ll be working from home we’re thinking of living in the east bay, but it’s yet to be decided. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have. You’ll LOVE it! xoxoxox katie

  4. Congratulations! I don’t have any moving tips (after having moved 7 times in the past decade, all I know is that I’m hiring movers for the next one), but I just wanted to say that I love the SF area and I wish you the best of luck in your relocation!

  6. WOW! That is sooo exciting Michelle! I LOVE Chinatown in SF, the dim sum is sooo cheap and delicious, YUM!! Good luck with everything, I know how tiring and hard moving can be.

  7. That’s awesome. I just moved too. What a pain! But hopefully worth it in the end. I’m actually heading to SFO next weekend so maybe we’ll cross paths!

Also, ORK posters are amazing. That is all.

  8. I left all of my college friends in Oakland. Why do all the cool people live so far away from me…

  9. I hope this means there will be a bee meet-up once you settle in!
