6 Month Anniversary (sorta)
We have officially been married for 6 months! Well not exactly, but because our 6 month fell on a weekend, a finger incident and just the fact that time seriously flies by, I didn’t post this on the actual date. I’m 4 days late. But better late than never right?

It has been a wonderful 6 months. I don’t say that to be cliche or because it seems appropriate, but I have loved every minute of being married. I don’t miss being engaged or those early stages. To be honest, the year before the wedding was pretty stressful (not just due to wedding plans) and now things seem right. I enjoy the simple moments like coming home to Mark, making dinner together, watching our favorite TV shows, waffles on Saturday morning, and just knowing he is there when I go to sleep at night. While we’ve been together for 4.5 years, we are still learning new things and finding quirks that only come with living together and being married. Date nights still happen and the pursuit of one another continues after marriage. It’s exciting to create life together as we build old relationships and try to find new ones. I can’t wait for what’s ahead and not just the next 6 months but the many years to come.
Some completely random discoveries/quirks/things from the last 6 months:
- Made pizza dough from scratch with the Kitchen Aid
- Hosted our first holiday with family on Christmas Eve
- Kept a bamboo plant from our engagement party alive
- Killed 2 basil plants
- Weekend trip to San Francisco
- Mark prefers to vacuum as his chore
- I prefer to clean/wipe all counters as my chore
- We bicker over how many blankets are needed on the bed
- I read books too fast. Need to get a library card
- We perfected making vanilla ice cream
- Started going to a new church
- We babysat my MIL’s cat for a week
- We laugh and giggle a lot. Probably because we find ourselves funny when no one else would.
- Revolving sushi and lollicup slushe date nights
- I sleep talk sometimes and Mark thinks it’s fun to have conversations with me. One night I yelled, “I want a puppy!”
- I really do want a puppy.
- Bought a sewing machine.
- TV? 24, Lost, Glee, Modern Family, The Office
- Making dinner together on Sundays to get ready for the week
What is something you have discovered about your significant other? Are you married? Have things been different/better/the same?

Happy Anniversary
I love little lists like these. I think it’s a good way to cherish people and also see how far you’ve really come.
My husband did the cooking during the first two years that we lived together, but then I learned how to cook & have basically taken over. Sometimes we cook together, but I find that he’s sort of a “backseat cook”, like he’s always questioning my methods. It comes off as super critical & sometimes I just kick him out. haha. Or, I’ll give him busy work like stirring a pot or chopping.
1aww you guys got married around the same time we did! and isn’t funny how you keep learning new things about your husband?
2My husband discovered I yell stuff in my sleep, too. One time, I yelled out his name three times and then “I’m gonna get you!” He was totally freaked out. Happy 6 months-a-versary!
3Happy 6 month anniversary! Isn’t it sooo great to be married? You guys have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time! BTW, you need to teach me how to make my own ice cream!! My husband and I would be in heaven… or maybe we’d just be fatter haha.
4what a gorgeous picture! happy ‘anniversary’ to you both!
I love your list – may it keep growing and growing…
